Wouldn’t it be cool?
Wouldn’t it be cool when you search your own name on Google and your website appears as number one? I thought it will be.
On September 27, 2010, JansenLi.com was finally released from PendingDelete status. I brought the domain right away with Name.com. I was watching the domain for period of time and waiting patiently for it to be officially deleted.
For all the other “Jansen Li”s out there, I want to say HELLO! I always thought I was the only Jansen Li in the world. I was proven wrong when searched my name on Facebook. Let’s be honest here, I’m sure you searched your own name in Facebook or even Google which could be the reason you are here now.
The first time I searched my name on Facebook, it came up with two person, one being me. The other guy was from London. I decided to send him a message regarding how he got his name. Sadly, I didn’t get a reply. I was really hoping for a response… and no I didn’t write a message like “OMG WE GOT THE SAME NAME HOW YOU GOT IT!?!” Maybe he will respond to me after seeing this website.
After a week of purchasing the domain, I was able to get a back-link on a PR (Page Rank) 2 domain which had an anchor text of “Jansen Li.” Within a period of 24 hours, I was ranking number 2 for my name, Jansen Li. I was pretty excited. I thought I need more work since the first result was a Facebook profile of other Jansen Li. I opted out of having my Facebook profile listed on Google for privacy reasons. I believe I also opted out for searching my name on Facebook unless you are a friend of one of my friends.
Facebook is an authority site, so it will take a lot more work to outrank it so I thought. On the beginning of October, I found out I was ranking number 1. I didn’t make any changes or add additional back-links to my domain. I think the main reason was that the PR2 domain that pointed to this domain had an increased amount of back-links. It is also worth mentioning that having the exact keyword in your domain will help you rank easier. I hope my current ranking is permanent.
I’m not sure what this website will actually become in the future. One of my ideas including making it to my portfolio site.
Thanks for reading, have a good one. If your name is Jansen Li, feel free to comment below on how you got your name! Apparently my name was by accident, I was suppose to be named Jason! (This is not confirmed by my parents, but rather one of my cousins told me.) I’m glad I wasn’t named Jason, as there is already way too many in this world.
One thing for all the Jansen out there, don’t you hate it when they pronounce or misspell your name as Jason or Jensen. The name is not that hard, it is JAN-SEN. Jensen is kind of understandable, but Jason really?
